What is Myofunctional Therapy?
Myofunctional therapy is a non-invasive method to promote full-time nasal breathing, proper lip seal, ideal tongue posture, and efficient chewing and swallowing.
Treating the myofunctional disorder often results in improvements in TMJ tension and sleep quality. It creates a stable environment for orthodontics, prevents orthodontic relapse, and helps facilitate proper growth and development.
Nasal Breathing
Eliminate mouth breathing and promote full-time nasal breathing: all day and night.
Lip Seal
The lips are stretched and strengthened to rest closed without strain or tension.
Tongue Posture
Retrain the tongue to be positioned so that the tip touches the tissue behind the front top teeth and the rest of the tongue is suctioned into the palate at rest.
Chewing and Swallowing
Efficient chewing and swallowing allow you to prevent the tongue from thrusting onto the teeth and reduce tension by eliminating the use of extra musculature.
My Story
Hi, I'm Andie!
I am a registered Dental Hygienist and certified Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist and Myo Munchee provider. When I first heard about myofunctional therapy, I knew this was what I was meant to do. I sucked my thumb until I was 7, had a tongue thrust and ear infections, I was in speech therapy for years, braces in high school, and Invisalign as an adult. I wanted to be the person my younger self wished I had. I also learned that adjusting to improve your quality of life at any age is important. Being able to support and promote the health and well-being of both children and adults is extremely rewarding.
I hope to see you soon!
